Understanding noises and error codes on your Samsung washer
3:41
We’re all pretty familiar with how our washers work, but if an error code appears or you hear unusual noises, it can be concerning. However, it’s important to remember that some noises are normal. For instance, you may hear a pop and beep at the end of a cycle, quiet humming during a wash or even a light rattling sound. These noises are nothing to worry over! Now if you hear loud rattling or banging noises, make sure your washer is properly leveled and double check that you removed all the shipping bolts from the back of the unit. It could even be loose change banging around in the drum, so be sure to empty out pockets before starting a wash. When it comes to error codes there, are a lot of codes that should only be handled by a service professional, but there are also some codes that you can definitely handle on your own. If your washer isn’t leveled, you may see a Ub/Ur error code. In this instance, you just need to be sure the feet are adjusted properly. For 4C errors, check your water supply. Another common code is 5C or OC. This indicates that the drain pump isn’t working well. Simply check the drain line for any kinks or foreign materials, and ensure that the drain pipe was installed correctly. For washers that are SmartThings enabled, you can always use Smart Care to look up an error code. This will tell you what they mean and how to solve the problem.
